Synthetic Launch Night: report!

Synthetic Launch night @ Cavendish Arms, Stockwell.
It’s always an honour to play at a launch party, and this one was excellent fun, too. The Cavendish Arms is a recently refurbished pub in South London, and what used to be the pool hall is now a very nice little performance space.
I didn’t think to take [...]

New Tracks posted!

A momentous day:

They will feature on the forthcoming EP, along with remixes.
We suggest you scoot on over there and have a listen!
Let us know what you think!

Future Synth

My friend, The Cobra, has lent me a couple of classic keyboards.
The black one is the Casio SK-1 – sampling keyboard!
The white one is the Casio PT-1.
Casio obviously had such faith in their brilliant new PT-1, that they included a calculator on it. Convergence? Casio beat you by 25 years, iphone!

Here’s an idiot in a [...]

Gig Review: The Presets

The Presets
KCLSU, 19th March 2008

So the Presets are basically one of the best live electro bands I have seen in a long time. They played a beautifully structured 90 mins, featuring some of the old faves (Kitty in the Middle, Girl & The Sea, Steamworks) as well as some of their kick ass new [...]

CE_EP: Progress Report

The EP is making good progress:
28 Days & New Life are virtually finished. Oli H has done a great job with the mixes, and we spent a very enjoyable day together last weekend putting the final touches to the tracks. I hope to be able to post them on our  myspace in the next week [...]

Gig Debrief: Metro Club

Cassette Electrik @ Metro Club
March 15th 2008
We did a gig this week at the Metro Club, Oxford Street. Had fun playing the new tracks, and AWOL1966 took some rather nice pictures:
Lucy in glorious Technicolor…

…and Techni-blackandwhite

“you know the next verse is in 3 seconds?…”

It is scientifically impossible to take a pic of Des looking uncool.

A moment [...]

SOTD: Yamo, Guiding Ray

Yamo, Guiding Ray
Nice slice of Krautrock from Wolfgang Flur, ex-drummer of Kraftwerk.

This was made in the mid-90’s, but has nice retro Krautrock vibe – and extremely Kraftwerk-esque harmonies on the ends of some lines.
The rest of Flur’s album Time Pie I can’t say I really go for. I think he worked [...]

Gig Review: Looptron @ Bull & Gate

Clatter, Looptron, Toupe, The Goose
Bull & Gate, Kentish Town, Sat 8th March
Saturday night at the Bull & Gate
Looptron was playing his third gig on Saturday so Cassette Electrik deployed a contigent (me – hi!) to experience the gig.

First on stage: Clatter:

A duo from Missouri with an unfeasible amount of kit. Drummer not only had the [...]
